Fall has come to Northern California and I am thinking about how fortunate we are to live in such a beautiful country, state, and especially, city. Palo Alto is many things, but to me it is a community where I can raise my children well. We are surrounded by nature for geocaching, soccer games and playing in parks. Our community is diverse! In my son’s small(ish) elementary school, approximately 45 languages are spoken. Our schools are some of the best in America. Gunn High School, where my daughter graduated from last year, is usually ranked in the top 10 high schools nationally (though the basis for ranking is, well, creative). Our family particularly likes the fact that we can walk to the elementary, middle and high school, as they are part of our immediate neighborhood and community. While our schools are excellent, it is the combination of the teachers and administrators working with, and supported by, this community which make them special. A cliche is appropriate here—it does take a village to raise our children—and I am personally thankful to be part of ours. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
